Week Two, Page One - Salvation, Restoration and Motivation

SALVATION, RESTORATION AND MOTIVATION

All men need to be saved since all have fallen short of God’s perfection. Salvation requires recognition that we can’t get saved on our own, we need help. You may ask, ‘saved from what?’ Saved from the wrath of God that shall come upon all those who have rejected the Gospel of Jesus Christ (John 3:32).

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” – Romans 3:23

“As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.” – Romans 3:10

All men are born with a sinful nature and are cut off from God.

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” – Romans 5:12

It is the will of God for ALL of humanity to be saved, regardless of past or present shortcomings. God’s love and opportunity for eternal life is open to ANYONE who will take Him at His Word.

“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the Gospel’s, the same shall save it.” – Mark 8:35

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” – 1 Timothy 2:3-4

REPENT OF YOUR SINS (TURN AWAY FROM SIN)

Repentance means a genuine change of mind and a turning away from our sinful lifestyle. We are presented with the opportunity and commandment to cease from the practice of sin and to begin to embrace and practice righteousness after hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our decision to change must be committed, sincere and from the heart.

Repentance does not mean that we will become perfect in our conduct by any means; nor is God requiring perfection before we receive the free gift of salvation.

But the crux of the matter is that we must be absolutely and fully persuaded that the Gospel is true and that our conversion is a legitimate one.

Moreover, having repented of sin, our lifestyle will be that of practicing righteousness. This should be our consistent inclination; that is to be pleasing to God and doing those things that are right.

To be clear though, our lifestyle and conduct does not save us; our faith in Christ alone does that! But, as a result of our salvation, we will endeavor to live righteously.

“…the kingdom of God is at hand; repent ye, and believe the Gospel.” – Mark 1:15

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” – Acts 3:19

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promises, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9

BELIEVE THE GOSPEL

Acknowledge as true that the Gospel of Jesus Christ addresses you specifically.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is this: that Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary (Matthew 1:16-23); died on the cross of Calvary for the sins of the whole world and was buried, but rose again from the dead three days later by the power of God the Father (John 19 and 20, Mark 15 and 16).

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” – Romans 10:9-10

RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST

Receive the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only Son.

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” – John 1:12

“For GOD so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth My Word and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." - John 5:24-25

“Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12

By receiving Christ for our soul’s salvation, we are now eternally saved, having been born again spiritually. “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” – John 3:7

BRAND NEW YOU

“Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” – Romans 6:4

“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

As born-again believers in Jesus Christ, we can expect to embrace a new fullness of life, because God has promised abundant life to those that belong to Him.

Jesus says in John 10:10, …I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

In addition to obtaining eternal security for our souls, God will take care of us during our earthly life as well, providing for our every need, far beyond what we may ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

Furthermore, now being reconnected with God, we have full access to His knowledge, wisdom, understanding, ability, power and resources. We are therefore now positioned and equipped with the tools necessary to discover and to live out our divine purpose, day by day.
